About Western Clydesdales

We’ve changed our name from the Western Mustangs to the Western Clydesdales as we ramp up our push for inclusion in the Hostplus Cup.

The famous Clydesdales name is synonymous with rugby league in our region, and evokes strong feelings of pride and passion in rugby league circles. We’re excited to see how the return of the famous symbol rallies support around our current teams and behind our region’s bid for a place in the Hostplus Cup.

We field teams in the under 16 Cyril Connell Challenge, under 18 Mal Meninga Cup and under 21 Hastings Deering Colts, along with a team in the under 19 women’s competition.

We represent south-west Queensland, with our catchment area spanning from Gatton in the east to Roma and beyond in the west, and from the Queensland/NSW border in the south up to the South Burnett.

Our new name continues to demonstrate our commitment to representing all of the south-west and draws on the passion associated with the Clydesdales from their proud history of excellence over the past century.
