Western Clydesdales Re-Sign Jason Alchin as Hostplus Cup Head Coach for 2025 Season
For Immediate Release
Toowoomba, QLD – 17th July 2024 – The Western Clydesdales are thrilled to announce the re-signing of Jason Alchin as Head Coach of the Hostplus Cup team for the 2025 season.
Alchin has led the Clydesdales through the 2023 and 2024 seasons, bringing extensive experience and a profound understanding of the game. His leadership has been pivotal in developing the team and fostering local talent.
Shane Sullivan, CEO of the Western Clydesdales, expressed his excitement, stating, "Jason's dedication and understanding of the game have been invaluable in our first two seasons. We are confident that his continued leadership of our football programs will drive the growth of our statewide competition teams, the pathway development squads and provide further opportunities to local players in the 2025 season."
Alchin, a former NSWRL player with a rich coaching background, initially joined the Clydesdales as the Hastings Deering Colts coach in 2022 before stepping up as Head Coach for the Hostplus Cup squad for the Club’s inaugural season. His tenure has been marked by a dogged commitment to building a competitive team with limited resources and providing opportunities for local players to shine.
Reflecting on his re-signing, Alchin said, "I'm honoured to continue my journey with the Western Clydesdales. The past two seasons have been immensely rewarding but also challenging. I look forward to further developing our playing squad and creating an elite learning environment across all our programs in 2025."
The Clydesdales' management and supporters can be confident that Alchin and his coaching team will continue their work in developing the next wave of players and coaches from the South-West Queensland region as the Club continues to build and provide opportunities for the local rugby league community.
