Weekend wrap-up v Ipswich

Honours were largely shared when the Western Clydesdales hosted Ipswich in four games at Clive Berghofer Stadium on Sunday.

A storm and lightning delayed the start of the action before both clubs played out some competitive games.

UNDER 16

A late try to Ipswich saw the Western Clydesdales start the Cyril Connell Challenge with a 24-20 loss.

The Jets built an 18-10 lead at half-time before the Clydesdales hit back with two tries in the second half.

Jake Durie's try in the 51st minute gave the Clydesdales a 20-18 lead late in the game before the visitors crossed for a telling try with three minutes to play to close out the game.

UNDER 18

The Clydesdales finished strongly to post a 32-22 win over Ipswich in their Auswide Bank Mal Meninga Cup season opener.

The Jets got out of the blocks quickly with a try in just the second minute before the Clydesdales built momentum to establish a 22-12 lead at half-time.

Ipswich hit back with two tries after the break to level the score at 22-22 with 14 minutes to play.

Clydesdales captain Declan Ryan then crossed for his second try before Bailey Nash scored a try with seven minutes left to get the hosts out to what proved to be an unassailable 10-point lead.

UNDER 19 WOMEN

Kylie Janes and Reyna Core ran in doubles as the Clydesdales posted a convincing 38-4 victory over Ipswich.

The Clydesdales got on top early with a try to Core in the second minute and stayed on top in a promising performance.

The hosts led 28-0 at half-time before running in two tries to one in the second half.

UNDER 21

The Clydesdales have a bit of work to do ahead of the Hastings Deering Colts season after recording a 32-16 loss to Ipswich.

Our Colts will start their season on April 2 against the Tigers at Clive Berghofer Stadium.
