Expressions of Interest (Rep Nominations) are open between 16th May 2023 and close on Friday 30th June 2023 at 5:00pm. 

The Western Clydesdales RLFC have implemented changes to our Junior Statewide Competions selection process in 2024. The new process will involve seeking expressions of interest from players who aspire to be selected for our Cyril Connell Challenge (U16 Males), Mal Meninga Cup (U18 Males) and Harvey Norman U19’s (Female U19s) pre-season squads which will be announced in October 2023.

Players who express their interest in being selected, will have the opportunity to attend a Testing & Talent Identification session prior to squad selection which will be run by the Western Clydesdales football staff.

Details for this session will be communicated to players who nominate their interest via their email provided.

Eligibility

Cyril Connell Challenge – males born 2008 & 2009

Mal Meninga Cup – males born 2007 & 2006

Harvey Norman U19s – females born 2007, 2006 & 2005

Our selection policy below:

The Western Clydesdales' selection of all Junior State-Wide Competitions teams (Cyril Connell Challenge, Mal Meninga Cup, Harvey Norman U19's, U17 Regional Carnival) as well as all South-West Queensland Academies established in partnership with Canterbury-Bulldogs, are based on:

• Performance in:
  • Club/Community Rugby League
  • Testing & Talent ID sessions
  • School Rugby League
  • Representative Rugby League
  • Development Programs (i.e RISE)
  • Academy Programs
  • Alternative sporting codes relevant to Rugby League
• Potential to be successful in Rugby League based on:
  • Athletic/Physical Potential
  • Character/Personality
