Calling All Past Clydesdales

Asking you to Come With Us Now!

We are organising a Clydesdales Reunion this year and we need your support.

On the 18 June 1924, the Toowoomba side led by Duncan Thompson, beat the touring Poms for the first time. That night at a civic reception the mayor at the time, Mayor Annand said, “How about that Toowoomba team. They are not only big but they’re fast, just like Galloping Clydesdales.”

From there the Clydesdales brand was born. So, this year is the Centenary. On Sunday 16 June 2024, the Western Clydesdales play Northern Pride at Clive Berghofer Stadium, Toowoomba. This game will act as a Clydesdales Reunion.

Also, Dan Stains is organising the 1984 Clydesdales for the same day. On 20 June 1984 the Clydesdales beat the Poms again, so it’s their 40th Anniversary. Dan will be in contact with the team.

On the Saturday 15 June 2024, the day before the game we are organising a get-together at Clifford Park Racecourse. Col Lindenberg is also organising a Clydesdales golf day.

You would have also heard that the QRL have organised the State of Origin Fan Day in Toowoomba on Tuesday 18 June 2024.

We are asking that you provide the Club with your contact details so that we can keep in touch and ensure we don't miss anyone as we build a Past Players Club to be known as the Clydesdales Club.
