Country claim double in the U17s City vs Country Clashes

Queensland Under 17 Country Boys snatched victory with a late field goal to defeat a persistent Queensland Under 17 City Boys side at Logan Metro Sports Complex on Saturday. The finals score was 13 - 12. The victory followed on from the Queensland Under 17 Country Girls' last minute 24-20 win just hours earlier.

In a thrilling development for the Western Clydesdales community, seven talented young athletes have risen to the occasion and earned their spots as representatives for the 2023 Queensland Country Under 17 team. Mariah Brown, Lucy Davis, Pypah Ferguson, Chelsea Middleton, Chloe Pallisier, Jett Day, and Bodhi Sharpley have proven themselves as rising stars in the world of rugby league, and they are currently in camp on the Gold Coast.

Queensland Rugby League has today announced the Queensland Under 17 City and Queensland Under 17 Country squads for the representative boys and girls clashes to be played at the Logan Metro Sports Complex this month. The September 23 match will feature some of the game’s best male and female talent from the QRL’s statewide competitions.

Toowoomba, 28th August 2023 – In a night filled with celebration, camaraderie, and nostalgia, the Western Clydesdales Rugby League Football Club held its highly anticipated Awards Night at The Royal Hotel in Toowoomba on Monday night, 28th August 2023. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the inaugural Don Saunders Medal, named after the legendary Clydesdales Player #1 and captain of the 1996 Queensland Cup Premiers, to current captain Darryn Schonig.
